Tyre Safety Month Guide

October marks the beginning of Tyre Safety Month. All over the country, different tyre safety organisations enforce the importance of looking after and caring for your tyres.

**This year, Modern Tyres will be conducting FREE TYRE SAFETY CHECKS at a number of Applegreen service stations throughout the country as part of a joint initiative to help drivers understand the importance of tyre safety. Wednesday 9th Enfield West, Thursday 10th Lusk North, Friday 11th Castlebellingham South, Thursday 17th Mallusk, Friday 18th Lisburn West**

October marks the transition in weather change from summery / mild to wintery / hazardous conditions. So it’s always good to be prepared and make the necessary changes to your tyres and driving habits in advance.

Tyre Safety Month

Tyre Safety Month is run by TyreSafe. A U.K. based organisation which covers a very broad range of tyre and road safety aspects from holding events, tyre care awareness to highlighting the very real dangers of buying and fitting part-worn tyres.

The Tyresafe organisation has a wealth of information and materials for anyone who is interested in tyre safety, all of which is freely available to download from their website.

Tyre Safety Week

The ITIA will be conducting an all-Ireland tyre campaign in advance of the annual Road Safety Week. This is a joint initiative with NTDA (NI). In the first week of October, from the 1st to the 6th, An Garda Siochona and PSNI will carry out tyre checks at specific checkpoints and a tyre expert will be in attendance to give advice to road users.

Irish Road Safety Week

Irish Road Safety Week is held annually and this year it will be from the 7th - 13th October and is run by the RSA (Road Safety Authority). The Road Safety week was formed by the Irish Government in 2006 in order to research and promote road safety in Ireland. Schools, local communities, local authorities and organisations all run events to raise road safety awareness in conjunction with RSA.

As always, we at Modern Tyres fully supports the safety practices of each of these organisations and offer all our customers free tyre safety checks and free advice all year round.  If you have any concerns regarding your tyres please ask one of our experts.
